“Off-Licence Opera” is a love letter to the glorious chaos of a British night out after the sensible decisions have already gone home. It follows that strange stretch between last orders and getting home, when the trains have stopped, your phone is dying, everyone is soaked, and complete strangers briefly become part of the same story. Romance is there, but Violet refuses to romanticise it too much. Bad texts, worse timing and repeated promises of “never again” are all part of the ritual. The title comes from that moment when a whole street seems to become its own accidental choir: people laughing, shouting, arguing and singing badly together outside takeaways and off-licences. Beneath the humour, it’s really about messy freedom, friendship and refusing to behave quite as neatly as the world expects you to.
