“Dead Air Society” is about two strangers finding each other in the strange suspended world of an airport delay. Everyone around them is performing, selling, scrolling, filming or desperately trying to get somewhere, while they quietly opt out. What begins as shared boredom becomes its own little act of rebellion: no introductions, no plans, no need to turn the moment into content. The airport keeps making announcements, flights keep changing, and the world keeps transmitting, but for a few hours they disappear from it. It’s a song about connection without performance, and the possibility that sometimes being stuck somewhere is exactly where you’re meant to be. The idea came from imagining an airport at 3am, when everyone is tired enough to stop pretending. “Dead Air Society” is about two strangers who meet during a delay and gradually realise they don’t actually want the waiting to end. Around them, everyone is broadcasting their lives in some way. They do the opposite. They sit, observe, joke, drift, and create this temporary little world where nothing needs to be documented or explained. It became a song about opting out of the noise and finding intimacy in the dead space between destinations.
